Více než 20 umělců z kanadské Britské Kolumbie vytvořilo díla o rodné zemi Karla Maye – o místech, která nikdy neviděli, podobně jako May napsal své slavné příběhy o Winnetouovi, aniž by kdy navštívil Severní Ameriku.
Umělci z Vancouveru, regionů Okanagan a Shuswap zkoumají místa, která nikdy osobně nenavštívili – podobně jako kdysi Karl May – a zabývají se tématy vzdálenosti, představivosti a vyprávění příběhů pod hesly „Můžeš snít a může se to stát“.
Výstava je součástí oficiálního programu Chemnitz 2025, Evropského hlavního města kultury.

Mehr als 20 Künstler aus British Columbia, Kanada, haben Werke über die Heimat von Karl May geschaffen – über Orte, die sie nie gesehen haben, ähnlich wie May seine berühmten Geschichten über Winnetou schrieb, ohne jemals Nordamerika besucht zu haben.
Künstler aus Vancouver, den Regionen Okanagan und Shuswap erkunden Orte, die sie nie persönlich besucht haben – ähnlich wie einst Karl May – und beschäftigen sich mit den Themen Entfernung, Vorstellungskraft und Geschichtenerzählen unter dem Motto „Du kannst träumen und es kann wahr werden“.
Die Ausstellung ist Teil des offiziellen Programms von Chemnitz 2025, der Kulturhauptstadt Europas.

Over 20 artists from British Columbia, Canada, have created works inspired by Karl May’s homeland — places they have never visited in person, much like May wrote his famous stories about Winnetou without ever setting foot in North America.
The artists, hailing from Vancouver, the Okanagan, and the Shuswap regions, have explored places they have never visited in person — much like Karl May once did — addressing themes of distance, imagination, and storytelling under the slogan ‚You can dream and it can happen‘.
The exhibition is part of the official programme for Chemnitz 2025, the European Capital of Culture.
