Petra Anyakem (Chomutov/ Chicago) is an artist who works with a variety of media. In addition to painting, she creates jewellery, draws and designs. She studied Experimental Design and Applied Arts and Masters in Contemporary Crafts (London). While completing her postgraduate studies, she rediscovered her love for glass painting, which she is currently pursuing and taking to new levels. / Umělkyně, která pracuje s různými médii. Kromě malování vytváří šperky, kreslí a navrhuje. Vystudovala experimentální design a užité umění a magisterské studium současných řemesel (Londýn). Během postgraduálního studia znovu objevila lásku k malbě na sklo, které se v současnosti věnuje.

Sarah Míček (New Jersey/ Chomutov) grew up in the United States before living and traveling in many different countries. She has spent most of her adulthood in the Czech Republic, with the last 9 years in Chomutov. Sarah has worn many different hats over the years, but her heart has always been in language and creativity. / Pochází ze Spojených států, žila a cestovala po mnoha zemích. Většinu své dospělosti strávila v České republice, posledních 9 let v Chomutově. Již několik let se Sarah věnuje různým činnostem, ale její nejoblíbenější činnosti vždy souvisely s jazykem a uměním. V Galerii prezentuje své básně.

This series focuses on the close relationship between image and writing, painting and poetry. Its starting point is the landscape – both external and internal, how they overlap and interconnect. / Zaměřují se na úzký vztah mezi obrazem a psaným textem, malbou a poezií. Východiskem je krajina – vnější i vnitřní, jejich vzájemné prolínání a propojování.

The work reflects the authors‘ experiences as people who have come from, and come to, the region, and attempts to show their complex relationship to it. It asks how the landscape has both impacted its inhabitants and been impacted by them, as well as the ways in which we can influence the future of the post-mining landscape. / Práce odráží zkušenosti autorek, jako těch, které z Ústeckého kraje odešly a zase přišly. Naznačuje jejich složitý vztah k regionu. Jak krajina ovlivnila životy jejích obyvatel a jakým způsobem mohou lidé ovlivnit budoucnost krajiny po těžbě.

The authors are particularly interested in landscape as both natural and cultural, and how both serve as a record of historical “wounds.” They believe the landscape has the capacity for self-renewal and healing, just as we do as humans.  / Přírodní a kulturní krajina je v popředí jejich zájmu. Zprostředkovávají krajinu jako záznam historických zranění způsobených člověkem. Podle autorek má však krajina, stejně jako lidský druh, schopnost sebeobnovy, pokud do ní příliš nezasahujeme a necháme ji žít.

Petra and Sarah’s collaboration offers a creative perspective on the plight of the post-mining landscape. They want to acknowledge the struggles, but at the same time focus on the hope they see in the region and the possibility for its positive transformation. / Spolupráce Petry a Sarah nabízí tvůrčí pohled na nelehký osud krajiny po těžbě. Zároveň vidí naději v její pozitivní proměně.

Petra says: „We hope the viewer will be encouraged to become an active participant in both the emotional and physical creation of our shared landscape.“ / „Doufáme, že divák bude povzbuzen k tomu, aby se stal aktivním účastníkem emocionálního i fyzického vytváření naší společné krajiny.“
