IBRA IBRAHIMOVIČ: STŘEPY SEVERNÍCH ČECH
vernisáž 9. října 2026, 18:00 h,
senátorská kancelář Přemysla Rabase, Nerudova 655/1, 3. patro
s básněmi Tomáše Šidla a Václava Havla
Jakou cenu platíme za energetickou soběstačnost? A co zbyde z krajiny a lidských osudů, když rypadla utichnou?
V chomutovské Galerii Město a v senátorské kanceláři Přemysla Rabase se unikátně setkají dva výstavní projekty – Sozialfotografie, uvedená v německém Atelierhausu Kühnhaide, a putovní série Střepy severních Čech platformy Culture for Future (ARCHA+) a Galerie Hraničář.

Ibra Ibrahimovič (1967–2024) was one of the most prominent contemporary Czech documentary photographers. His work is closely tied to North Bohemia—a region that was not merely a backdrop for the artist, but a defining life theme where family history, industrial reality, and an ecological call to action converged. Through his photographs, he continually sought to evoke emotion, break through indifference, and inspire action.
What price do we pay for energy self-sufficiency? And what remains of the landscape and human lives once the excavators fall silent? We cordially invite you to an exhibition of selected photographs by legendary documentary photographer Ibra Ibrahimovič, capturing the unvarnished reality of the North Bohemian brown coal basin around the turn of the millennium. It is a poignant testimony to places where heavy industry collided with human lives and vanishing villages for decades.
In Chomutov’s Galerie Město and in the senatorial office of Přemysl Rabas, two exhibition projects meet in a unique way: ‚Social Photography‘, previously displayed at the Atelierhaus Kühnhaide in Germany, and the touring exhibition ‚Shards of North Bohemia‘ (Střepy severních Čech) organized by the Culture for Future platform (ARCHA+) and Galerie Hraničář. Come and experience a sensitive photographic record of the memory of the landscape we live in.
The opening reception will feature performances by poet Tomáš Šidlo and Josef Märc reading Václav Havel’s ‚Anticodes‘ (Antikódy).
The exhibition moves from Most to Chomutov and will subsequently travel to Prague. This route symbolically retraces the journey of coal-generated power, bringing the debate over its true cost back to where these stories originally began.
